This course is designed to familiarize the undergraduate (and also the first-year graduate students who have not taken fluid mechanics before) with the fundamental equations which govern most of the flow problems in science and engineering. The underlying physics behind the mathematics will also be emphasized.
No previous knowledge of fluid mechanics or undergraduate course on fluid mechanics is needed. Multivariable Calculus plus an undergraduate course of Applied Mathematics or Engineering Mathematics on Vector Analyses, Ordinary Differential Equations, Fourier analyses, Linear Partial Differential Equations, however, are required.
